EXPLANATIONS FOR KNITTING:
PATTERN: See diagram A.1.
DECREASES (applies to armholes and neckline):
All decreases should be made on the front side of the work!
Decrease at the beginning of the row like this: Knit 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, 4 stitches in stockinette stitch, knit 2 stitches together with a slant to the left (= 1 stitch decreased).
Decrease at the end of the row like this: Knit until there are 7 stitches left on the needles, 2 knit stitches together slanted to the right, 4 knit stitches and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (= 1 stitch decreased).
KNITTING DESCRIPTION:
TOP, short job description:
Body knit in the round on circular needles up to the armholes. Then divide the work into the front and back and knit each part separately in turning rows. Knit the sleeves in the round on stocking/short circular needles, then knit the sleeve cap in turning rows. Finish the work by tying the neckline on circular knitting needles.
BODY:
Cast on 176-198-220-242-264-286 stitches on 3mm circular needles using Muskat yarn. Knit 1 round row with knit stitches. Then knit according to pattern A.1 in the round (= 8-9-10-11-12-13 reps of 22 stitches).
When the first 6 rows of the pattern are knitted, change to 4 mm circular needles and continue knitting according to the pattern in the round.
WATCH THE DENSITY OF KNITTING!
When pattern A.1 is completely knitted, continue knitting in the round in stockinette stitch.
When 27-28-29-30-31-32 cm are knitted, knit the next row like this:
knit the first 32-35-42-35-52-45 stitches as before,
cast off next 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches for armhole,
knit the next 82-93-102-113-122-133 stitches and remove them to the holder (= front),
cast off next 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches for armhole,
knit the last 50-58-60-78-70-88 stitches (=back).
Cut the thread.
BACK:
= 82-93-102-113-122-133 sts.
Knit in stockinette stitch in turning rows, knit edge stitches in garter stitch (1 stitch on each side).
In the first row on the front side of the work, start making decreases for the armholes, see Explanations for knitting.
Decrease every 4m-4m-4m-2m-2m-2m row for a total of 2-7-10-15-18-22 times = 78-79-82-83-86-89 stitches.
Continue knitting until the back length measures 43-45-47-49-51-53 cm.
In the next row, cast off the middle 34-35-36-37-38-39 stitches for the neckline and continue to knit the shoulders separately.
Next row cast off 1 st at neck side = 21-21-22-22-23-24 sts. Continue knitting until the back length measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm.
Close the loops. Tie the second shoulder as well.
BEFORE:
= 82-93-102-113-122-133 sts.
Knit in stockinette stitch in turning rows, knit edges in garter stitch (1 stitch on each side).
In the first row on the front side of the work, start making decreases for the armholes, see Explanations for knitting.
Decrease every 4m-4m-4m-2m-2m-2m row for a total of 2-7-10-15-18-22 times = 78-79-82-83-86-89 stitches.
When front measures 38-40-42-43-45-47 cm, slip middle 24-25-26-27-28-29 stitches onto neck holder and finish shoulders separately.
Then perform decreases for the neckline, remembering the Explanations for Knitting. Repeat decrease every 4th row a total of 6 times = 21-21-22-22-23-24 stitches.
Continue knitting until front length measures 46-48-50-52-54-56 cm. Bind off sts. Tie the second shoulder as well.
SLEEVE:
Cast on 72-75-78-84-87-93 stitches on short circular/double needles with 3mm Muskat yarn. Knit 1 round row with knit stitches.
Then knit an elastic band (= k1 / p2) in a circle to a height of 2 cm.
Knit 1 round with knit stitches, evenly adding 0-1-2-2-3-3 stitches = 72-76-80-86-90-96 stitches.
Change knitting needles to stocking/short circular needles size 4 mm. Work in stockinette stitch in the round to a height of 2-2-2-3-3-3 cm. In the next row cast off 6-6-8-8-10-10 stitches.
Continue knitting in turning rows and cast off stitches to form a sleeve cap at the beginning of each row on each side like this:
bind off 2 loops 4-3-2-2-1-1 times, 1 loop 1-6-9-11-16-19 times, 2 loops 4-3-3-3-2-1 times and 4 loops 1 time = 24-26-26-28-28-32. Cast off remaining stitches. The sleeve length will be approx. 11-13-15-17-19-21 cm.
Knit the second sleeve as well.
ASSEMBLY:
Sew the shoulders. Sew the sleeves to the body.
NECK:
Pick up 90 to 105 stitches on the right side of the work (including the slipped front stitches) on 3 mm circular needles with Muskat yarn (the number of loops should be a multiple of 3).
Purl 1 round row. Then knit an elastic band (= k1 / p2) in a circle to a height of 2 cm. Bind off the loops according to the pattern.
