A wonderful and cozy cardigan will come in handy both when traveling and when you are relaxing at home with a book in a soft chair. The unfastened model is made in stockinette stitch and is completely decorated with narrow braids, while the cuffs, straps and waistband are knitted with elastic.
Product width according to chest circumference: 116 (132) cm.
Length of the product: 80 (82) cm.
Sleeve length at inseam: 51 (52) cm.
You will need: Lana Grossa Natural Alpaca Pelo yarn (63% cotton, 31% baby alpaca wool, 6% merino wool; 50 g/approx. 125 m) - 17 (19) skeins of lilac melange (color 12); knitting needles No. 6.5 and 7.5; circular knitting needles No. 6.5, length 120 cm; hook number 6.
Knitting density: pattern “Braids” with thread in two layers (knitting needles No. 7.5) - 13 sts x 16 r. = 10 x 10 cm.
Rubber. Knit alternately k1, p1.
Facial surface. Front rows - front loops, purl rows - purl loops.
Pattern “Braids” A (back, number of loops is a multiple of 6 + 7 + 2 edges).
1st r. (= front row): edge, purl 2, * Stretch the 3rd stitch on the left needle over the 2 stitches in front of it, knit 1, yarn over 1, knit 1, purl 3. *, repeat from * to *. finish the 3rd stitch on the left needle, stretch over 2 stitches... k1 in front of it, 1 yarn over, k1, purl 2, chrome.
2nd r. (= purl row): knit all the loops according to the pattern, knit the yarn overs purl.
3rd and 4th rows: knit all loops according to the pattern.
Repeat 1-4th r.
Pattern “Braids” B (front and sleeves, number of loops is a multiple of 6 + 5 + 2 edges).
1st r. (= knit row): edge, purl 1, * Stretch the 3rd stitch on the left needle over the 2 stitches in front of it, knit 1, yarn over 1, knit 1, purl 3. *, repeat from * to *, finish the 3rd st on the left needle, stretch over the 2 sts in front of it, k1, yo 1, k1, p1, cro.
2nd r. (= purl row): knit all the loops according to the pattern, knit the yarn overs purl.
3rd and 4th rows: knit all loops according to the pattern.
Repeat 1-4th r.
Knotted edges. Knit the 1st and last sts in knit and purl rows.
Edge chain.
Persons row: 1st st. knit. crossed, remove the last loop as a purl, thread behind the work;
Out. row: 1st st. knit purl. crossed, remove the last loop as a purl thread before work.
Underlined decrease 1 p.
From the right edge: knotted edge, purl 1, stretch 3rd stitch on the left needle over the 2 stitches in front of it, knit 1, yarn over 1, knit 1, purl 2 stitches together;
From the left edge: knit to the last 7 sts, purl 2 sts together, stretch the 3rd st on the left knitting needle over the 2 sts in front of it, k1, yarn over 1, knit 1, knotted edge.
Note. All parts are knitted with two folds of thread. If only one number is given, it is valid for all sizes.
Description of knitting
Back. On knitting needles No. 6.5, cast on 70 (82) sts and knit with an elastic band between the knotted edges, starting from the purl row.
After 6 cm from the cast-on row in the last row (= purl row = 11th row), evenly add 5 sts = 75 (87) sts. Switch to knitting needles No. 7.5 and then knit with the “Braid” pattern A.
After 43 cm (= 68 r.) from the elastic band, mark the beginning of the armholes on both sides.
After 22 (24) cm = 36 (38) r. from the beginning of the armhole, close on both sides for shoulder bevels 3 (4) sts, then in every 2nd r. 6 x 4 p. (1 x 4 p. and 5 x 5 p.) = 21 p.
Simultaneously with the second shoulder decrease, close off the middle 13 stitches for the neckline and then knit both sides separately.
To round the neckline in every 2nd r. cast off another 2 x 2 sts.
Left shelf. On knitting needles No. 6.5, cast on 34 (40) sts and knit with an elastic band between the knotted edges, starting from the purl row.
After 6 cm from the cast-on row in the last row (= purl row. 11th row) evenly add 3 sts = 37 (43) sts. Switch to knitting needles No. 7.5 and then knit with the “Braid” pattern B.
After 40 (42) cm = 64 (68) r. from the elastic band on the left edge for the neckline, subtract 1 p., then in every 4th r. underlined, decrease another 9 x 1 p. = 27 (33) p.
Along the right edge, as on the back, mark the beginning of the armhole and make shoulder bevels.
Right shelf. Knit mirror the left front.
Sleeves. On knitting needles No. 6.5, cast on 34 sts and knit with an elastic band between the knotted edges, starting from the purl row.
After 6 cm from the cast-on row in the last row (= purl row, 11 rows), evenly add 3 stitches (= 37 stitches). Switch to knitting needles No. 7.5 and knit with the “Braid” pattern B. In 7 (5th) r. from the elastic for the sleeve bevels, add 1 stitch on both sides, then in every 6th row. 9 x 1 p. (in every 6th p. 6 x 1 p. and in every 4th p. 6 x 1 p.) = 57 (63) p. Add the added loops to the “Braid” pattern.
After 45 (46) cm = 72 (74) r. from the elastic band close all the loops.
Knit the 2nd sleeve in the same way.
Pockets (2 pcs.). On knitting needles No. 7.5, cast on 21 stitches and knit with the “Braid” pattern A between the knotted edges.
After 17 cm from the cast-on row, switch to knitting needles No. 6.5 and for the twisted edge, knit another 2.5 cm in stockinette stitch, then bind off all the loops.
Belt. On knitting needles No. 6.5, cast on 9 stitches and knit with an elastic band between the edge chains.
After 150 cm from the cast-on row, close off all the loops. Assembly: pin the parts onto the pattern, moisten and let dry.
Sew shoulder seams. Along the edges of the shelves and the neckline for the placket, using knitting needles No. 6.5, cast on 223 (229) sts and knit with an elastic band.
At a bar height of 4 cm, close all loops.
Sew the sleeves into the armholes between the markers. Sew side seams and sleeve seams. Sew pockets according to the diagram.
The edge of the pockets will curl 1 cm and the right side of this edge will look like a purl stitch.
For the belt at the waist, sew 1 stitch at a time; to do this, use crochet number 6 to tie a chain of 6 chain stitches using thread in two folds.
Thread all the threads.
