Knitted sweater using Norwegian technique
DIMENSIONS
S (M–L–XL) XXL;
chest circumference: 83 (93–103–110) 120 cm;
total length: 56 (56–58–60) 60 cm;
sleeve length: 47 cm for all sizes.
The length can be varied.
YOU WILL NEED
Easy yarn (100% sheep wool; 51 m/50 g) – 4 (4–5–5) 6 skeins (50 g each) natural white and 9 (10–11–12) 13 skeins (50 g each) charcoal black; circular and stocking needles No. 8; stitch markers.
PATTERNS AND DIAGRAMS
RIB IN CIRCULAR ROWS
Alternately knit 1, purl 1.
FACIAL SMOOTH
In circular rows, knit only knit stitches.
CHESS PATTERN
Knit using the jacquard technique using stockinette stitch according to the given pattern A.
RUNES PATTERN
Knit using the jacquard technique using stockinette stitch according to the given pattern B.
KNITTING DENSITY
12 p. = 10 cm, knitted in stockinette stitch on needles No. 8.
ATTENTION!
Dimensions refer to the finished product, include movement allowances and correspond to the knitting gauge shown. Check your knitting gauge pattern against the one above. If you knit more tightly or loosely, replace the knitting needles with full-size ones—a larger or smaller number, respectively.
COMPLETING OF THE WORK
BACK AND FRONT
On circular knitting needles, cast on charcoal thread 100 (112–124–132) 144 sts and knit 3 rounds. with an elastic band.
On both sides, mark the sides with markers = 50 (56–62–66) 72 stitches for front and back and knit on all stitches in stockinette stitch in circular rows.
After 33 (33–35–37) 37 cm from the cast-on row for size. for size S, M and LS, M and L knit 4 rounds. in a checkerboard pattern according to pattern A, pattern A, then for all sizes, for all sizes, close off the armholes on both sides of the markers with 6 stitches (= 3 stitches on both sides of each marker).
Postpone work.
SLEEVES
On stocking needles, cast on 24 (26–26–28) 28 sts with charcoal-black thread and knit 2 rounds. with an elastic band, then knit in stockinette stitch in circular rows.
After 7 (7–5–5) 5 cm from the cast-on row to mark the sleeve bevel, attach a marker to the first and last stitches of the row and add 1 stitch on both sides of the marker. Repeat these increases every 6 (6-5-5) 4 cm until there are 36 (38-42-44) 46 sts on the needles.
Continue knitting according to the pattern, after 44 (44–44–47) 47 cm from the cast-on row for size. S, M and L for size. S, M and L knit 4 rounds. with a checkerboard pattern according to pattern A, pattern A, then for all sizes, for all sizes, close the ditch for the armhole with 6 sts (= 2 sts with a marker + 2 sts on both sides of the marker).
Set aside the remaining stitches temporarily.
Knit the second sleeve in the same way.
ROUND YOKETTE
Slip the set aside loops of both sleeves onto circular needles with front and back loops, placing the sleeve loops on both sides between the back and front in place of the stitches closed for the armholes = 148 (164–184–196) 212 sts.
For size S, M and L For size. S, M and L knit with natural white thread 2 rounds. with the front stitch, at the same time in the 2nd r. decrease the stitches evenly so that 144 (156) 168 stitches remain on the needles.
For size XL and XXL knit 4 rounds. in stockinette stitch in a checkerboard pattern according to pattern A, then use a natural white thread to knit 2 rounds. with the front stitch, while in the 2nd r. decrease the stitches evenly so that 180 (192) stitches remain on the needles.
Next, for all sizes, for all sizes, knit in circular rows with stockinette stitch the “Runes” pattern according to pattern B, while marking the line of the middle front with a marker and counting the beginning of the rapport from this line.
At the end of the pattern and the decreases indicated on it (= 72 (78–84–90) 96 sts), knit 1 circle with charcoal thread, while evenly decreasing the stitches so that 60 (66–72– 74) 76 p.
Then use a natural white thread to knit 1 round. in stockinette stitch and for the collar, 13 cm in rib stitch in circular rows.
Finally, bind off all the loops according to the pattern.
ASSEMBLY
Sew armhole seams.
