Braids can be neat and clearly drawn - they can, but they don’t have to.
“Bavarian Hunter” is a classic cardigan based on the German national costume, it goes perfectly with jeans.

Patterns
Pattern with braids
The pattern with braids is knitted according to patterns. One of the patterns is for the back, the other two are for the left and right shelves. Since the repeats of individual parts of the pattern differ in the number of rows, they are repeated in height with different frequencies. But you can simply repeat all 32 rows of the pattern over and over again, then everything will be as it should with rapports.
Pattern of knit and purl stitches
The sleeve pattern, consisting of knit and purl stitches, is knitted according to patterns. One of the patterns is for the left sleeve, the other for the right.
Knitting principle
Back
Cast on 133 (137/149) stitches (pattern + one edge stitch each) and knit
those according to the pattern of the back pattern. Having knitted 45 (44/42) cm from the cast-on edge, bind off on both sides for the armholes: 1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 (1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 / 1 × 4, 3 × 3, 2 × 2) sts. Uvas on knitting needles is now 103 (107/115) sts. Continue knitting until the height of the work reaches 68 cm from the cast-on edge. Now simultaneously close the loops to form the shoulder slopes (on both sides) and to cut the neckline. For the neckline: central 35 p., in subsequent rows 2 × 2 p. on each side. For shoulder slopes on both sides: 3 × 10 (1 × 11, 2 × 10 / 1 × 12, 2 × 11) sts.
The pattern of the pattern consists of two parts: start with the 9th (7th/1st) stitch and knit until the 62nd stitch, then continue to knit along the second part of the pattern, starting with the 63rd stitch.
Right shelf
We will fold the first three loops inward later. Here the fabric will lie in two layers so that the zipper can be secured. Accordingly, the visible part of the shelf begins
from the fourth loop.
Cast on 69 (71/77) stitches (pattern + 1 edge loop for the side seam; on the right shelf the edge loop is at the end of the row, on the left shelf it is at the beginning). Knit according to the pattern of the right shelf pattern. Having knitted 45 (44/42) cm from the cast-on edge, cast off for the armhole: 1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 (1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 / 1 × 4, 3 × 3, 2 × 2) sts. You now have 54 (56/60) sts on your needles.
Continue knitting until the height of the work reaches 66 cm from the cast-on edge. Now bind off for the neckline: the first 20 (21/22) sts and in subsequent rows another 4 × 1 sts. After you bind off one loop for the first time, bind off in addition in the purl rows for the shoulder slopes 3 × 10 (1 × 11, 2 × 10 / 1 × 12, 2 × 11) p.
Left shelf
Knit as a mirror image of the right front.
Left sleeve
Cast on 42 (46/50) stitches (pattern + 2 edge stitches) and knit according to the left sleeve pattern. At the same time, in every eighth row, add one loop on each side until you have a total of 66 (70/74) stitches. Continue knitting until the height of the work reaches 49 cm from the cast-on edge. Now close each side to roll:
1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 (1 × 4, 2 × 3, 2 × 2, 1 × 1 / 1 × 4, 3 × 3, 2 × 2). You have 36 (40/40) stitches on your knitting needles. Now knit 2 stitches together on both sides of the sleeve in every fourth row, in total you need to decrease in 9 (10/10) rows, reducing the number of stitches to 18 (20/20) . After this, bind off 1 × 3, 1 × 4 and the remaining 4 (6/6) sts.
Right sleeve
Knit as a mirror image of the left sleeve, using the right sleeve pattern.
Assembly
Sew the seams, sew in the sleeves. Fold the front strips (the first three loops) of the shelves inward and sew. For the collar, cast on 84 (88/88) stitches along the entire neckline (including the trims), knit 2 cm according to the left sleeve pattern and loosely bind off the stitches.
Unzip and pin each half to the front panels. Baste the zipper to the cardigan using basting thread. Remove the pins and sew on the zipper using sewing thread that matches the color of the cardigan. Remove the basting and secure all ends of the threads.
