Summer top knitted with diagonal stripes

Knitting on the diagonal is easier than it might seem. As a result of lateral additions and decreases, a rectangle is formed. The longer the rows become, the narrower the stripes. Thanks to this technique, the top beautifully fits the figure and seems almost fitted.

You will need: 400 (450) 500 g of beige-gray-brown-green yarn “Linarte Degrade” (40% viscose, 30% cotton, 20% linen, 10% polyamide; 125 m/50 g) Lana Grossa: knitting needles No. 5.

Knitting technique.
Knotted edge: Purl the 1st and last stitch of each row. All details are knitted with knotted edges.

Purl garter stitch on the bias with highlighted additions: front and back rows - purl loops. Knit according to the pattern. Start 3 points between the arrows. From the 2nd row, perform highlighted increases as indicated. Complete rows 1–27, then continue adding in each row according to the meaning.

Knitting density purl garter stitch: 20.5 p. and 39 r. = 10 x 10 cm.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Attention: the arrow on the pattern indicates the direction of knitting.

Back: for the lower right corner, cast on 3 stitches and knit in purl garter stitch on the bias with highlighted increases with knotted edges, starting from the purl row, as indicated.

After 55 (59) 63 cm (measuring vertically from the lower right to the upper corner, not in the direction of knitting) = 147 (159) 171 r. from the starting row (147 (159) 171 stitches on the needle), the shoulder height will be reached from the right edge, and the lower left corner of the back will be achieved from the left edge.

Next, for a rectangular shape, perform decreases: in each front row, knit at the beginning of the row after the 2nd stitch, at the end of the row before the last 2 stitches, 2 stitches together, purl.

When there are 7 stitches left on the knitting needle, knit the middle 3 stitches in each front row together with the purl stitch, at the end also the last 3 stitches and pull the end of the thread through the last loop.

Before: knit like a back.

Assembly: make the seams, leave the side seams open at the bottom for cuts of 12 cm, at the top for the armholes - 20 (21) 22 cm, leave the middle 25 cm open for the neckline.
